Retired, Wealthy and Settled in Australia

I received a letter of thanks along with a gift from my two clients who have now settled abroad. "…thanks to your Feng Shui advise we live a life of retirement in Australia. I can't forget the stressful two-year period (2000 and 2001) when nothing was moving. I went through hell. Maria too suffered so much. Our families too had tension for so long."
A year back, when this businessman approached me he was a worried man. Money wasn't his worry as he had a running business.He and his partner had goodwill in the market and their annual turnover was in the vicinity of Rs 10 crore. His sister had settled in Australia after marriage. More interesting, his partner had got his daughter too married in Australia. Both wanted to settle in Australia. Selling this running business was difficult, as open effort to sell this establishment would have needlessly caused rumors about their business.

Selling a running business

They would give vague hints and feelers to the right people but talks would fall through.

I came in the picture when I organized the show of my designer Feng Shui paintings in Lokhandwala, a popular location in Mumbai, populated by movie actors. It was a low profile show but I believe that Feng Shui is like a call from Shirdi Ke Sai Baba. Indians, cutting across the religious divisions, believe that you go to Shirdi only when Sai Baba calls you. It is called bulava (the invitation). The thought envelopes you, haunts you, refuses to leave you till you get your house Feng Shuied. You hear the silent call. It can be a column about Feng Shui, an advertisement in a paper or a recommendation from someone. These two came to view the paintings and asked me for guidance. Feng Shui was not as popular at that time. I sat with them and had a long discussion. Soon I sensed that they didn't want to sell the business at a sub-conscious level! They had started this business 27 years ago and made a success of it with their enterprise.

Visit to his office

I visited their office. Both sat together in one cabin and were very transparent about their business and life.

After some preliminaries I asked them, "Which is the oldest piece of furniture in your cabin?"
It was an old teak table and a chair. Also there was a steel cupboard of Godrej they had bought in 1973. Though these things didn't gel with the other furniture they continued to keep these old pieces. Among my Feng Shui suggestions was one to get rid of these items immediately. These old items were like anchor and had to be moved and then removed before the ship leaves a port and sails ahead. There were many other suggestions too. Within weeks they got someone ready to takeover at a very good price. He also wanted to have their two sons on the board of directors to take the advantage of their goodwill, an idea my clients welcomed.I am not surprised to know that they think of Feng Shui even as they live a retired life, free from all worries, in Australia.
