A Hotel Rises Like a Phoenix

Somehow, off-site consultations have often produced interesting Feng Shui stories.
Mondays I often keep for the clients who visit me in my office for consultation over a floor plan. This, again, is with prior appointment. The answer to a simple question like why they prefer off-site consultation brings varied answers.
For a control freak mother-in-law this becomes a way by which she continues to remain in power without letting her daughter-in-law know that she was employing Feng Shui; for someone who cannot afford to have me visit him in distant cities in India it is easier to visit Mumbai with a floor plan (or even to courier/e-mail/fax it) and for the wife whose husband doesn't believe in Feng Shui, this is an easier and safer route to `more` in life. Feng Shui, for most people is for getting more from life. More success, more wealth, more fame, more loves. It is out of sheer love for the husband and children that women lie to them. I remember a case, six months ago, when a Sindhi lady came to consult. She didn't want her husband to know. And ironically, every suggestion she wanted had to do with her husband's business, welfare, health and success. She had brought in two floor plans; her house and her husband's business premises where he ran a hotel.
"This hotel was very successful when my father-in-law used to run it. Now times have changed. The hotel is on the verge of closure! How long will we pull on like this?" she had tears in her eyes.
I took a close look at both the plans and suggested Feng Shui corrections. I noted with interest similarities in both the properties. The most important sector, the Wealth & Good Fortune corner (popularly called the Money corner) had flaws. In the hotel, a small toilet was located in this corner and in the home; a large metal statue of an armed soldier was placed in the Money corner.
I told her that metal was taboo in the Money sector which is ruled by the Wood element! The soldier was shifted to Helpful Friends & Patronage corner. Here the Metal benefits.
Even as we were discussing the Feng Shui of her husband, she was eyeing the painting of Phoenix hanging in my office. She had already read about the Phoenix and the role it plays in resurrecting careers.
“Suppose I buy this painting!”
“Not a bad idea,” I smiled. She added the phoenix also to the list of products.

Last week she revealed her `secret` to her husband.
"Mohanji, I decided to tell him after some uncanny experiences. Earlier, he was often worried about the business. Nothing was moving. He was running a hotel but the business was bad. After I incorporated the changes in our house he got a very good offer from a bank who wanted to open ATM counter in the same premises. He leased them a quarter of the space. This brought the assurance of added revenue of 25,000 per month and interest on the deposit they gave for the next 11 years! The recurring losses were wiped out immediately. A week later, he was approached for keeping a collection box (for Reliance Bills, BPL, Orange, Citibank etc). He agreed. People, who would come for dropping the bills, would peep in. Seeing the opportunity, he started keeping sundry household items in showcases. Even the sale of bakery and confectionary products increased.
"Last month, his total collection for April this year was six times the money he collected in October 2003. The net profit is seven times more! This is when I decided to tell him about the role of Feng Shui in our life," She grinned happily and added, “I think my idea of buying Phoenix worked well for him. He and his hotel business have risen like Phoenix!
The way I look at it, an enhanced Helpful Friends & Patronage corner attracted a bank to lease a part of the hotel and in an uncanny development, the toilet - now when the premises were divided in two parts - was not in the Money corner anymore! The division of the property in two changed the location of each corner!
