Feng Shui for Dollar Store

“For the first time in 7 years I feel a free and happy man,” Udharam beamed as he counted his daily collection. The wad of notes in front of him was thick enough to choke a horse.
His mood swing was a treat to watch. From the morose shopkeeper that had forgotten to smile, he was now full of life.
Our acquaintance is about a year old.
Last year, just after Diwali, his wife Rajni had approached me for Feng Shui advice.
Rajni was the only daughter of this Sindhi business family located in Wadala. Her marriage with Udharam was a love marriage. After his marriage, leaving his salaried job, Udharam had tried various trades. Somehow, he failed in every endeavor. He didn’t have much to worry about as Rajni’s brothers ensured that she and her husband didn’t starve. But personal success had always eluded him.
“How long will we live off my brothers? My husband is hard working and sincere but he seems unlucky. Can Feng Shui help us?” she asked me.
I took a close look at her house and also at the shop. They had continued living in the same house and her husband had operated his business from the same premises for 7 years with same luck.
The shop had an irregular shape. I noticed that Wealth & Good Fortune corner was absent. Empty cartons, gunny bags and bottles occupied Career & Opportunities corner. He was sitting in Helpful Friends and Patronage Corner. On his desk lay a framed picture of his wife and this man unenthusiastically sat on the chair. The story of his business couldn’t be described anymore elaborately.
Uncannily, his ground floor house had a similar plan! In fact, it was worse.
The toilet was located in Wealth & Good Fortune corner of the house.
Sink of his kitchen was, again, in Wealth corner. Kitchen itself was located in the Career & Opportunities area.
The drain of the bathroom too was in Wealth area!
Their marriage album lay in a cupboard in Helpful Friends and Patronage corner. The family cash and jewellery was of course located in a safe in this very cupboard.
Several Feng Shui changes were required. Drains in the money corners had to be plugged. Career & Opportunities corners needed to be stimulated. Empty cartons, gunny bags and bottles were removed and his desk was shifted from Helpful Friends & Patronage area to Career & Opportunities corner. I ensured that his chair was placed bang in the Yang part of Career & Opportunities corner.The other remedies included a crystal cluster on his desk to generate a positive luck, a 3-legged toad with a coin (Yang side up) Every Feng Shui flaw in his shop and house was corrected.
The transformation began. It started with a little argument between him and one of his brothers-in-law. Udharam was hurt because of a casual remark and started a trend that culminated into SUCCESS! He started retailing Sikkim lottery’s Playwin lotto and replaced most of the stock (ready made garments he had acquired from a businessman friend of his brother-in-law) with fast selling `ladies items` with a new sign board `49 to 99`(Mumbai version of Dollar Store)! By the way, number 9 is lucky for Udharam! In less than six months, he also rented the shop adjoining his to sell `fast food`.
Both his shops are successful. Rajni manages the `fast food` joint.
Udharam became an independently success businessman. “For the first time in 8 years I feel a free and happy man,” he repeated.
