The rise of Saif Ali Khan

P.S.
Normally, post-script is added at the end. However, that practice belongs to the pre-computer era when one used to type/write. Now, the computer gives me the privilege to add post-script to the beginning.
This year the results of HSC have brought huge grins to two mothers who had consulted me for their children's education.
One of them figured in the merit list and his mother, based in Pune, gratefully pointed out the phoenix, turtle and education tower I had suggested. Another has been more elaborate. She sent me an e-mail that I will quote from the next week.
Here begins the column that I wrote before these results.

Success of Saif Ali Khan

Not long ago, I told Nari Hira, the Rupert Murdoch of India who own the Magna House and publishes Stardust (an Indian movie magazine) that Saif Khan (an Indian actor) will soon be a major star who will carry a film solely on his shoulders. Nari, besides being my once-upon-a-time-publisher is my cousin and (even though we never give a damn) we trace our family tree to the King of Sind, Raja Dahar.
Last week, as I come out of Fame Adlab, after watching Saif Khan's solo starrer Hum Tum I can say with satisfaction that I told you so! Saif is a major star now.
I find Saif's rise a fascinating story with its ups and downs. Son of the then captain of Indian cricket team Mansoor Ali Khan, the Nawab of Pataudi and the glamourous actress Sharmila Tagore who had an entire generation swooning after her, Saif was born with proverbial silver spoon in his mouth. This is what we describe as the Heaven Luck. He was grabbed by Satti Shourie as soon as he arrived in Bombay to try his luck in films. But, this project was shelved as - and this is an understatement - Shourie and Khan didn't get along.
Soon after this fiasco, Saif was signed by Rahul Rawail for Bekhudi which was to have Kajol in the lead. Rahul didn't like Saif's late arrival and threw him out. Nevertheless, Saif survived. But he remained also-ran as a second lead with stars like Akshay Kumar,Ajay Devgan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
It was during this low of Saif that Nari Hira was stunned to hear from me that Saif will be a major solo star.
Another time, less than a year back, I wrote in this very column - in another weekly - that love will blossom in the life of Raveena Tandon and culminate in marriage. I can again say, I told you so!! Raveena today is happily married.
But, let me say categorically, I am not in the business of predictions and forecasts. Feng Shui is not about forecasting the luck. It is about enhancing the luck, about getting more from destiny. And I do hope that Saif Khan gets much more than what he has got so far. So does Raveena.

Life gave her second chance

I opened the marriage invitation.
The name sounded familiar. It was a Bengali woman marrying a Punjabi man. Along with the card was a note. It read:
Mohandeeji, FS worked. I am marrying the most wonderful man in the world. He loves me madly and has accepted me the way I am. I request you attend my marriage and bless us.
And I remembered her story.
A year back she had called me. She had said,"I have some problems and wish to seek Feng Shui help. Can I come down to meet you?"
A brief conversation followed. It turned out that the lady on the other side was deeply disturbed as nothing was working out for her. "Nothing is happening in my life. My career is not happening. Love is not happening. Marriage is not happening. It is as if some thing or someone is deliberately stopping the things from happening." She wanted an appointment.
Aarti Mukherjee (name changed on request), a dusky Bengalin in her late thirties, visited me two days later. What she said - in nutshell - was:
"I am a divorcee. My husband got involved with another woman. I couldn't take it. We lived in a rented flat. He deserted me, leaving behind loans and problems. He even cleaned up our joint account. The issue went to court. We were granted divorce a year ago. He is supposed to pay alimony but he always avoids it. I am surviving as I am a fashion designer but here again; my business is not doing as well. I am also keen to marry but all I'm getting are the married guys who are not willing for any kind of commitment."
She spread the diagram of her house on my table. I can only describe my experience as déjà vu; like it had happened once before. Feng Shui flaws that I have seen in scores of floor plans, where the women have same marital problems, need same remedies.

It was like repeating a success across-the-counter medicine, but it works. I suggested the painting of Moon Energy (Dragon & Phoenix) and told her where to keep it.

Today I know it has worked. Life gave her a second chance.
