Locating love at Orkut...the Feng Shui way!

Among the people who have benefitted from blending Feng Shui with décor is a Hindu businessman. He consulted me first for the regular Feng Shui and seeing the positive effects in his life was very enthusiastic when he acquired a showroom. His business was electronic goods and thanks to earlier changes he had been able to buy the 2500 sq feet showroom.

The showroom was running smoothly and profitably so he didn' t want any more enhancements there. “I want the interior of my house to be as per Feng Shui principles. But my wife wants Feng Shui to be subtle, as we don' t want it to become a talking point. However, we certainly desire that change in the home interior could change our life and luck. You know how young people are.” Chaturvedi said.

Return of first love

The entire project was carried out in consultation with me. And the results were astonishing as far as Nisha, his daughter was concerned. She had got involved with her first cousin Pradeep and was obstinate about marrying him. This would have been a major embarrassment for the entire family. She wasn' t even worried about the medical information that children of such marriages are often deformed and their health is affected. Even as the interior was being carried out, while networking she bumped into an old school friend. Ravi was her first love but they had drifted away after his family shifted to Delhi. New city brought new opportunities and the first love was a faded memory. Orkut brought them together. They picked up threads on the net, and last week, Chaturvedi informed me about the formal engagement of her daughter!

California approves a legislation about Feng Shui

My contemporaries in the USA inform me that Feng Shui is getting the stamp of `Official` in California. And here Feng Shui officially blends with building construction. This is one step ahead of interior and Feng Shui. The Assembly of the State of California has approved an interesting legislation about Feng Shui. They have urged the Building Standards Commission of California to adopt building standards that promote Feng Shui principles and publish these norms as a code. The resolution states that The structure of a building can affect a person's mood, which can influence a person's behavior, which, in turn, can
determine the success of a person's personal and professional relationships, and the aim of Feng Shui architecture is to study how the environment in which people live may affect their lives. Feng Shui is widely practiced in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia, and it is regarded as a vital part of everyday life in many parts of Asia. Moreover, several western companies including Citibank, N.M. Rothschild, Shell, and Sime Darby have employed Feng Shui for growth. The principles of Feng Shui have become increasingly popular in western culture with fashion designers like Donna Karan and Tommy Hilfiger who blend it with their work in their showrooms even as entrepreneur Donald Trump consults Feng Shui experts for his properties.

My reservations about builders' claims

The builders in India are doing this too. In fact, builders often advertise their projects as `vaastu approved`. However, I have a major reservation about the way it is being done. In fact, I have refused to give such certificates to builders whenever I have been approached. This kind of certificate is too generalized as in Feng Shui, besides the building, individual premises matter as much if not more. One flat or shop may be very fortunate for one person but may attract misfortune for someone else. To elaborate, suppose someone gets a shop in a vaastu-approved building and the door of his shop is in his total loss direction or five killings direction he will have a hard time till this flaw is corrected. For a p-e-r-f-e-c-t Feng Shui it is necessary that the entire project is worked out keeping in mind the Feng Shui of all the occupants. This can only be done when a group of people – say 12 families – acquire a flat each in the same project and each flat is planned keeping their directions and elements in focus. This can be a dream house.

Feng Shui related interior

While my usual Feng Shui advice for residence, office or shop has almost always benefitted people leaving me very content with what I am doing, I have always considered blending interior décor with Feng Shui a more satisfying choice. I have now got myself a young architect duo (Chirag Naik and Bijal Shah) to implement Feng Shui unobtrusively. Interior with this method makes Feng Shui changes totally inconspicuous. Only a well-trained Feng Shui expert would be able to notice the Feng Shui in such décor.

To elaborate, Feng Shui basically has to do with directions and elements. I find out the four lucky directions and the lucky elements of the inmates and placement of furniture (whether it is the double bed in master bedroom or cash counter in a showroom) is expertly in accordance with these exclusive lucky directions. Along with that is the choice of colors for the walls, furniture, curtains etc. This is equally important as colors affect every aspect of our life and each shade represent a different element. As important is the dominant shape of the furniture, the material (wood, glass, metal, ceramic, leather etc) used in the décor and unobtrusive use of mirrors in the décor. Mirrors are considered the aspirins of Feng Shui and play a vital role in correcting the flaws.
