Feng Shui for alcoholic wife beater

It is an enriching experience for me to be able to witness the high drama behind the four walls of bed rooms or board rooms and it is the stuff cover stories of Savvy and Business India are written; the stuff that will never reach the media unless my clients so desire. The increasing role of Feng Shui in the life of people doesn’t surprise me. After all who doesn’t want more from life the easy way, the Feng Shui way.
I have two instances of wives who were unhappy about their husbands’ drinking problems.
Alcoholic husband
“My husband is a nice and loving man when he pours his first peg in the evening but as his intake increases he becomes nasty, ” a middle-aged woman client confided in me.
She had tried talking to him but it was a waste of time. He would promise never to touch liquor again but the evenings would be the same. Her once beautiful face told me the story of what was happening to her.
In another case, a rich industrialist’s wife – herself a journalist of sorts - confessed to me that her husband had become an alcoholic and often raised hand on her. This high profile man has a gentle image and is considered very sensitive! But my experience is that there are quite a few wife beaters in high society of Mumbai.
In both the cases Feng Shui changes I suggested helped them though both have yet to turn teetotaler.
In the first case, it took me some time to locate the reason for this change. This man would sleep in the drawing room, under a beam and his feet (and some time his head) would be towards the door! Beams above you, everyone knows, are bad for health and adversely affect the growth in all the spheres of life. Sleeping with head or feet in the door direction `drains your energy`, a belief strengthened by the fact that the dead bodies are taken out this way.
Feng Shui flaw that leads alcoholism
Worse, he had a laminated picture of Dilip Kumar from Devdas in his living room! Devdas is a Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay story of a loser in love turning into a self-destructive alcoholic and has been made into a film several times. Dilip Kumar played this character in Bimal Roy’s version. My client had this old, faded sepia print of Dilip Kumar in his living room for years!
Dilip Kumar’s picture was thrown in the dustbin and other changes were incorporated. I even sanctified the house like they were moving in a new house. His wife was thrilled when he returned sober and asked for dinner without pouring his usual Patiala peg! It has been three months and, according to his wife, he has spent 30 nights without alcohol.
The case of the rich, high profile industrialist is more interesting. I noticed a mural on the wall of his drawing room. It had what looked like an Egyptian king perched on a luxurious chesterfield and three women, including the queen, serving him wine. This was the first thing to go though we also incorporated the usual Feng Shui changes in his duplex apartment. I advised them to hang the acrylic painting of the Earth with health & longevity symbol as well as the Dragon to strengthen his resolve. His wife tells me that he quit drinking on his own within less than a month and has turned a teetotaler!
Interestingly, I came across the same mural on the wall of an NGO in Andheri. The director of this NGO too has somewhat similar experience but lets not get into this third story.
