Returning to prosperity with Feng Shui

Debts and recovery agents have been making news, bad news. Suicides due to their harassment remind one of the Pathan and Marwari money lenders of yore.

Till Mrs Indira Gandhi nationalized the banks in 1969 there were money lenders– Afghans, popularly referred to as Pathans, and Marwaris – who catered to the poor and middle class. Their interest rates were usurious but they provided unsecured loans, sometimes without collateral. They were always there at the right time and right place to collect their dues. They would be standing outside the borrowers’ offices and factories on payday. They would never miss their customers, even in crowds.

Generally polite and sweet, these Pathans had harsh ways when anyone defaulted on payment.

Money lenders survived even the various Money Lenders Acts because of the corruption and red tape involved while borrowing from banks. But ultimately their relevance was reduced because of the co-operative banks that emerged. With the economic liberalization of the last two decades, life changed for the borrower. Now the customer does not chase loans; the loans chase him.

And these banks – Citibank, ICICI, and HDFC – with their recovery agents have become loan sharks.

I am mentioning them not only because recovery agents have made headlines but also because of a mail I received from a lady who consulted me and benefited. It is a letter acknowledging the positive impact of Feng Shui. I am reproducing it without any changes: I will not give her name, but a clue. She shares her name with a 3rd-century queen of Palmyra, who claimed the title 'Queen of the East' and expanded her reign to Rome. Email a friend  Bookmark this page  Write to Mohan Deep

Here, I will call her Rani (Queen).

She writes:

“I would like to express my thanks for changing my entire life completely with your Feng Shui miracle.

“Few years back, my entire life was in a state of turmoil and I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown due to my husband's job.  My husband lost his job and for almost a year-and-a-half he was without it. Later, I was told by him that he had taken a loan on which he was paying a huge interest, as a result of which he was down by a few lakhs.  Beside that, his credit card bills were huge.  When I came to know about it I was totally shattered and depressed and worried as to how we would repay the loan amount.  Forget money coming into the house, it was just flowing out like water.

“Just then I read your article in the newspaper and I immediately contacted you on the phone and also sent an email about my situation.  You asked me to send a house plan, which I did immediately.  Within two days I was informed that there were a whole lot of things in my house which needed to be changed.  You also suggested a few Feng Shui pictures/photographs to be put up in different directions, which we ordered them up immediately.   Within a few weeks, my husband got a job, and slowly and steadily, our loans were paid off and money started flowing into our life. And now we are a happy family, with an abundance of love and wealth.

I once again express my gratitude to you for having brought back happiness and peace into our family and house.”

The visit of a recovery agent to one’s house is a humiliating experience. Humiliating enough for people to commit suicide, as has been happening. This is why I can understand Rani and more important, her husband’s trauma. The very fact that he didn’t reveal the debt burden to his wife shows how he must have suffered alone.

Middle-class respectability and the male ego often takes a harsh blow when debts occur. Often the spouses don’t stand by each other. I have among my friend-clients a girl whose husband borrowed heavily on the additional card, and then they were divorced.

Poor F was left holding the baby!

But Feng Shui brought another man, and abundance into her life but that is another story.

To return to Rani, I am happy that Feng Shui has brought life back on the rails for her family, but I repeat, I am always amazed at the miracles Feng Shui brings, and I always feel under pressure. Since years, I have seen Feng Shui working for almost everybody and yet, deep inside, I am skeptical of my own success.

P.S. I can now reveal the names of my clients. The lady is Zenobia V Bhomisa, Exe Assistant at Tata Management Training Center. Zenobia as well as her husband, Viraf happily endorses Feng Shui at Feng Shui Miracle. They also posed for my camera when the charming couple from Pune visited my office recently.

Note: The right of privacy is sacred for me. The names of the people mentioned in the diary are usually changed to protect the identity of my clients.
