The Real Wealth Corner

Now that Feng Shui is popular enough to have become a fad, you will come across amateurs who have done some vague `courses` under some little known Feng Shui grand master and now takes upon himself the responsibility of offering Feng Shui advice. How does he operate? First from memory as he has learned that simplified Feng Shui called Compass School of Feng Shui. He remembers by rote that Southeast is Wealth corner, Southwest is Marriage corner, South is for Fame & Recognition, North is for Career & Opportunities, North West is for Helpful Friends & Patronage…and so on. This is a too generalized and simplified version of Feng Shui and like all simplified thing it is the most popular. And it doesn’t work in India. Southeast has been regarded as Prosperity & Wealth area in China for geographical reasons. Red lychee fruit was grown in abundance in South and Southeast of China and it was the most in demand fruit by the ruling dynasties and their noblemen. Besides, Chinese sailors who traded with Philippines and Indonesia returned with the most treasured South sea pearls and rich spices, again sought after by the wealthy in the King’s court and royal family.

Last 10 centuries have seen the Southeast of China supplying abundant food to the other parts of this country to meet famines and food shortage. The Southeast, therefore, is considered Wealth & Good Fortune area for the Chinese in this simplified, symbolic version of Feng Shui. For the Germans, on the other hand, Northwest and West are the Wealth area. In Australia, the more Wealthy areas are in the Northeast. In United States, the rich areas are in the Northeast where the World’s financial center Wall Street is located in New York.

West as well as Northwest can be considered India’s Wealth and Prosperity area, and of course Southeast and Southwest are incomplete areas on India’s map. If Feng Shui is being practices in China by all means Southeast can treated as Wealth area but Feng Shui masters should be careful while applying this rule in other parts of the world, specially India. It depends on one’s door direction and also Pa Kua number that is discovered from the birth date. So please avoid simplified guidelines give free and freely by feng shui merchants. The Southeast in your house may be Marriage & Relationship area and if you have placed a Water item hoping to woo the goddess of Wealth you may not only be in for disappointment but your Marriage and Relationship too may suffer!

This was my analysis about the Feng Shui of a house in Andheri. The first thing I noticed in his house was a specially constructed fish tank that adorned the Marriage & Relationship corner. The ruling element of this corner is Earth and Fire enhances it. Water can soil the earth and douse the Fire of passion. Well, Feng Shui blessing is still distant for this family!
